Perfection is a whole. Our wholeness is our selfness.

How much we have drifted apart from our nature, our self. First, we have forgotten ourselves, which we called “Self”, then we have gone out to search for it. We are currently in search of it but we cannot realize that what we search for is actually within ourselves. We continuously try new methods for healthy life and healthy thinking. We fail to realize that the greatest healthy life is to return to the self first. We cannot understand that problems will work themselves out if we can return to ourselves. Maybe we are so full of conditioning that we cannot think that everything is just that simple.

Connecting with Higher Self

One of the most important steps to be taken in order to make the creative imagination very functional and successful is having an experience that we feel like coming from the “source.” The source means the provider of infinite love, wisdom, and energy in the universe. For you, the source may indicate God or the mind, the “unity” of everything, or your true self. No matter how we conceptualize it, it is here and it is inside all of us now; it is present in our inner existence.

I consider connecting with the source as connecting with the Higher Self, the Deity living inside us. Connecting with Higher Self is characterized by feelings of deep knowledge, certainty, power, love, and wisdom. At this stage, you know that you create your own world and hold an infinite power to make it perfect.

Although not conceptualized like this, we all have moments when we connect with our Higher Self; we all have this kind of experience. Seeing yourself extraordinarily superior, luminous, powerful, “on top of the world” or “strong enough to move mountains” are the indications of your connection with your Higher Self. “Falling in love” is the same kind of feeling. You feel amazing and think that the world is amazing, too, when you fall in love; because the love you feel for another being, helps the wall between you and your Higher Self to be lifted. You discover that your Higher Self looks like a previous experience from time to time when you consciously acknowledge it.

When you raise your head at night and look at a cloudless sky, you easily realize a truth that has both incredible simplicity and extraordinary depth. What do you see there? The moon, planets, stars, the bright belt of the Milky Way, a comet, and the Andromeda Galaxy maybe two million light-years away… Put simply, are these objects floating in space? What then is the universe made of? Objects and space… When you think about the unbelievable depth of outer space or listen to the silence before sunrise in the early hours of the day, you feel something inside you start to vibrate. You then perceive the depth of space as your own depth and realize that that precious formless stillness is “YOU” more than anything else in your life.

The same truth is expressed in the Upanishads, the ancient scriptures of India:

“It is invisible to the eye, but eyes see with it. Know it as Brahman (Brahman is the world spirit in the tradition of Indian philosophy, for which self-union to the highest being, both immanent and transcendent, existing both in the universe and in itself, is considered the ultimate and highest goal.) It is not something to worship. It is the unheard with the ear, the ear hears with it: know it as Brahman, it is not something people will worship… It is the one unthought by thought, but it is the one who kills the thought in the mind; Know it as Brahman; It is not something people worship.”

This is what this scripture says: God is a formless consciousness and is the “Core” of your true identity. Everything else is form and ‘what people will worship’.

The dual reality of the universe, consisting of objects and space, that is, things and nothingness, is actually your reality as well. A wise, balanced and productive life is like a dance between these two dimensions that make up reality, that is, between form and emptiness. Most people identify themselves so much with the dimension of form, with sensory perceptions, thoughts, and feelings that they miss an implicit but extremely vital part of their lives. These people are stuck in their egos because of their identification with the form.

Just as space makes it possible for all things to exist, and just as there can be no sound without silence, you could not exist without that formless dimension that is the core of your true identity. We can call this dimension the field of Being. If the word “God” weren’t so misused, we could give that dimension that name. Being is before all formations. Occurrence is a form, content. Existence is the stage of life, Being is the backstage.

People are so immersed in what is going on, so hypnotized by the world of ever-changing forms, and so immersed in their experiences that forgetting the essence behind content, form and thought has become a collective sickness of humanity. Over time, they have so corrupted their minds that their true home, destinies, and original sources have been erased from their minds. However, the living truth about your identity is eternity.

Returning to self is remembering our most vivid truth.
